FAQ'S FOR SPORTS THERAPY

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SPORTS MASSAGE AND SPORTS THERAPY?
Sports massage therapy includes working on soft tissue such as muscles, fascia, tendons and ligaments which may be damaged or aggravated; it addresses the prevention of injury and performance enhancement. Sports massage is used to treat conditions and injuries commonly suffered in sport or high activity and works to promote tissue repair and recovery. Sports therapy includes a wider skill set, support and knowledge and involves soft tissue work and rehabilitation or emergency care. Within a sports therapy session, it may include postural assessments, functional and strength analysis, soft tissue work and rehabilitation exercises. As someone who plays sport, I understand the frustration of injury so really recognise the importance of soft tissue work and an appropriate and individual rehabilitation program.
WHAT IS KORE THERAPY AND WHY DID YOU STUDY THIS?
After training and working as a beauty therapist I realised my favourite area of work was the massage side and also being able to help people feel better within their bodies. So when I found Kore (Kinaesthetic Optimum Recovery Enhancement) I was fascinated, as it brings the best of Western and Eastern medicine together and at its core (ha-ha) it encourages balance and homeostasis to the systems and body, which in turn encourages good health and comfort to the body. Due to lifestyle, work or sport the body can become imbalanced which in turn can lead to pain or disease. The treatment involves an array of soft tissue techniques, usually done with the patient clothed and in a non-intrusive way.
